Cracking the World Record Egg and Why It Worked

Last week we recorded a live podcast at UCLA and spoke to students about storytelling. Whether it be pitching a brand they start, or themselves in an interview, storytelling is a great skill to have. 

During this time, a photo of an egg became the most-liked photo on Instagram, taking down a record previously held by Kylie Jenner. 

We used the egg as an example to demonstrate the ACT I, ACT II, ACT III structure that all great stories have. 

ACT 1: The Setup
State your intention. This photo of an egg is a total underdog, a "David" on a mission to take down the social media "Goliath" that is Kylie Jenner.

ACT 2: The Conflict
Will it happen? A good story takes you through the journey of getting past the obstacles in the way. Watch and see as the likes build up and be a part of the journey yourself by contributing. 

ACT 3: The Resolution
Tell us what happened. In this case, David has defeated Goliath.

Ultimately the egg won because it told a great story.
